The Ironman weekend in the first part of
September was such a fun filled family weekend.
We arrived to Madison on a Friday and had a fun hotel that had the most
perfect pool and slides for the kids.
Willa and Britta had a blast and it was just some nice down time hanging
out with Nick and Jackie before race day.
Madison is totally crazy busy during the race weekend so it was fun to
see all the hustle and bustle of the race participants and supporters. My mom and Bob also made the trip up the day
before on Saturday. It worked out
perfect because they had a campsite only a few miles from downtown where the
race was taking place. Saturday night we
all enjoyed a relaxing evening, grilling out and letting the kids run and
play. Willa and Britta had fun roasting
marshmallows and playing in the RV of course.
Sunday was the race, our day started at about 5:30 am. It was so exciting to see the anticipation of
the start of the race and then to watch the swimmers take off in the water at
the signal. We spent the day trekking
from one location to the next to get glimpses of Nick during the race and cheer
him on.
